Name: Nera Ryuka
Gender: Female
Age: 20
PC Box: Nera's PC
Class: Red Mage
Profession:Shrine Maiden
Appearance:
Nera stands only at five feet tall, but she makes up for it in attitude and determination.
She may be small but she is surprisingly strong for her size. Her muscles are strong and flexible from all her years of climbing trees and playing on the roofs of the shrine. Practicing flips and tumbles among the tall tree tops would often get her worried glances from the other residents of the shrine which only made her want to do it more. Her dark brown eyes were filled with a warmth that reflected her own warm heart. Those eyes always showed exactly what she was feeling, even if she didn’t want them to. Her equally dark brown hair hung down her back in thick waves. Her hair is often seen up in a high ponytail with her bangs hanging loosely on either side of her face.
Nera wears an outfit one of the priestesses had made just for her. It was in the colors that she loved best and showed just what type of mage she was. A special backless black shirt is covered by a dark red kimono top that had been altered just for her. The dark red fabric is covered in red swirls and a few images of a phoenix across it. The red outer top goes down over her knees, covering most of the light grey pants hiding underneath. A pair of dark black boots end just below her knees. They are flat on the bottom as well as being light and easy to move in. On her head rests a red mages hat with gold marking going down one side of it. On the other dangles a golden star charm from the rim of her hat. At the very tip of the red hat is a little golden ball.
Personality: Nera is a tomboy that tries to suppress the natural girl she is, but often fails. She’s a bit of a sucker for anything cute, especially fuzzy ears and tails. She tries to be tough to contradict her size but she more often comes across as cute instead. She hates it when people do not take her seriously and underestimates her because of her size. She doesn’t often get truly angry but when she does others better beware of the little mages fire. When her emotions get out of control so does her flames.
Nera cant stand the cold, especially cold water. Despite her dislike of cold she loves snow, it’s the only time she can stand the cold. Nera prefers being warm and toasty. She sometimes gets sleepy when it gets to just the right temperature. She would often be found on warm days napping under a nearby tree.
Nera can be a bit blunt at times, always saying exactly what is on her mind. Her heart is on her sleeve and her face is an open book. She doesn’t understand sarcasm and only thinks people mean exactly what they say. If anyone tries to hint at anything to her she will not understand unless stated clearly. Though it seems she doesn’t catch much, she does have one thing that often throws people off. She often knows if there is something wrong with someone even if she’s not told. The rare times when it seems like the simple girl can see straight into your own heart. Its an instinct she always fallows and always seems to come out just right.
History: Nera grew up in a small shrine surrounded by other mages. They were all priests and priestesses dedicated to the ancient grass spirit known as celebi. Though none had every seen the elusive grass type, they continue to honor it in the shrine. Nera had no real parents but thought of all the residents of the shrine as her family. Most lived and stayed there all their live but a few would set out when they reached adult age. Most of who left were the fire mages. Since they lived in a forest there were not many fire pokemon around. Traditionally when a mage began their training at the shrine they would partner with a pokemon that corresponded with the element they were to command.
As the years went by Nera struggled to find just what type of mage she was. She trained with each of the mages at the shrine but nothing seemed to come of it. It wasn’t until one of the old fire mages returned for a visit that she discovered what she was best at. She took to the fire training like a seel takes to water. When the old mage left Nera continued her training on her own. Because there were no fire pokemon around Nera bonded with a young Seel. The young pokemon may not have been a fire type, but at least she was good at putting out any fires Nera might cause.
As Nera continued her training with the Seel Yuki she slowly learned about her own strengths and weaknesses. She knew if she had a fire pokemon as a partner she would have been progressing fast, but she wouldn’t trade Yuki for all the fire pokemon in the world. Though she loved Yuki, she wished she had a fire pokemon as well. One night her wish came true. She woke in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke. She rushed outside along with everyone else to see the shrine was on fire. With the help of the water pokemon in the shrine they were able to put out the flames and capture the culprit. Apparently a wild vulpix had tried to burn down the shrine, though no one had any idea why it would want to. They had managed to capture it into a poke ball but did not know what to do with it afterward. At the moment there were no fire mages in the shrine…..none, except for Nera. Nera volunteered to take the vulpix and leave the shrine to train with it. She didn’t want to risk it trying to set the shrine on fire once more and the others in the shrine agreed as well. She left the next day with Yuki by her side and the newly acquired vulpix.
RP Sample: Nera held the hot pokeball lightly in her hands. She glanced to the side at Yuki. “You ready?” Yuki nodded as she readied herself, she knew if the vulpix made a move she would have to blast him with one of her attacks. Nera looked down at the pokeball once more before releasing the fire pokemon within. The fox pokemon shook itself before glaring at them both. Nera just smiled at him as she looked him over. The fox growled low in his throat as flames began to gather in his mouth. Before he could do anything Nera waved her hand and pulled the flames right out. The vulpix stared at her in shock as Nera just continued to smile. “My name is Nera and this is my partner Yuki. From now on you’re my partner too. What’s your name?” The vulpix glared darkly at his flames held up above her hand. As he shifted his glowing red eyes upon her he growled in a low voice. “My name is Kyuubi.”
